How to organize a dog routine handover

Turn the routine already agreed with an owner into a clear handover. This example organizes responsibilities; it does not choose feeding, exercise or treatment instructions.

Step 1

Start with the routine already agreed

Ask the owner for the existing routine. Write those instructions down instead of generating a new feeding, exercise or treatment schedule.

Step 2

Assign each task

Give each task a time or condition and a responsible person. A blank field means it still needs a conversation, not that a task is unnecessary.

Step 3

Separate done from pending

Mark completed tasks and leave a short, factual handover note. Avoid relying on memory when two people share the day.

Step 4

Copy and confirm

Copy or print the sheet, check it with the next caregiver, and share it privately. This organizer does not sync into Woofly or provide veterinary advice.

Examples to adapt

Worked example: handing over to a sitter

Before the handover — owner — done

“Existing written routine shared privately; sitter has confirmed they can open it.” This records an actual completed step without copying personal details into a public example.

At the agreed check-in — sitter — pending

“Follow the owner-provided instructions, then mark the agreed tasks complete and note anything still pending.” Replace the condition with the arrangement you have actually made.

Before the owner returns — sitter and owner — pending

“Confirm the next handover time and which items need returning.” If a detail is missing, write “to confirm with owner” instead of inventing it.

Make each handover actionable

  • Give every task a responsible person and an agreed time or condition.
  • Keep the original owner-provided care instructions available privately.
  • Only mark Done after a task is completed; an assigned task is still pending.
  • Record what happened separately from questions or guesses.
  • Confirm the next caregiver received the handover and knows which questions remain.

Common questions

Does this planner create a care schedule?

No. It organizes an existing routine. Ask the owner and relevant professionals to clarify care instructions rather than deriving them from a checklist example.

Does a completed sheet sync into Woofly?

No. The browser sheet is not an import or shared cloud record. Copy or print it before leaving; the App Store link shows the separate Woofly product.

What if two people are responsible for a task?

Choose one person to confirm completion and state who is covering the task if plans change. Agree that arrangement with both people before the handover.

Put it into practice

Start with the dog routine handover planner, then copy your finished draft before leaving.
